Crossing the “Digital Divide”

As we leave the office we log off our desktop and instinctively reach down to make sure our BlackBerry is ‘on board’. Even before we get to the subway, we have checked it twice and sent three text messages. Once we are in our seat for the long ride uptown, we pull out our iPAD to watch the second half of a movie we started this morning.
 
Surprise . . . we live in a fully digital world!!
However, when we arrive back in the office the next day, we find a FAX sitting in the middle of our desk announcing this years golf tournament!! On the fax is an email address to confirm attendance and another address to send “payment by cheque”!
 
No online registration!
No online payment!
No online tournament information! 
 
Think about it . . . if you continue to market and sell golf tournament player rounds and sponsorships by fax, snail mail and posters you are out of sync with today’s communication realities! Golfers and sponsors want to access tournament information and payment facilities 24/7 from any number of electronic devices. They want to complete the transaction when they make the decision to participate in your golf tournament . . . not after they have hunted around for an envelope and a stamp!
